Artist's Commentary
Forest of Ash is one of those paintings that I really wish you could see in person -there's a lot of texture in this piece that's sadly lost in the photos. With this painting, I was looking to capture that feeling when we go through a trial by fire, the worst one in our life.

You know the one - it leaves us exhausted, absolutely decimated, and we're little more than a few smouldering embers in a pile of ash at the end. But just as we swear that we've nothing more to give, there's a movement - a gust of wind perhaps - and it scatters a handful of the ashes, giving us enough of a glimpse of the future ahead. We don't get a clear view of it, but it is there, and it is real. And that's when we dig deep - deeper than we ever have before - and gather the will and the strength to stand up again.
