Archives of Being III
Artist's Commentary
Archives of Being is a series of abstract works that celebrates not just the part of us that we are most easily proud of, but every part of us that makes us who we are.
There was a time when my much-younger self was self-conscious about my flaws and eager to hide them from the world. Now, I recognise that those perceived flaws were an asset in their own way, for they encouraged me to work harder to overcome them, to become a version of myself that I could feel more proud of. They were, in short, a driving force and I am who I am today not because I sailed the smooth seas of life, but because I charted my way through the storms as well.
Life continues to be a work in progress, and therein lies the beauty. We do not need to have achieved perfection to feel proud of who we are; pride can also come from a place of imperfection, a place of seeing our flaws with a clear eye and committing to be a better version of ourselves every day. And so, with Archives of Being, I present all that I am at present and invite you to come join me in celebrating the person you are today.
